Hervey Bay Boat Club’s transformation through innovative, thoughtful design.
BSPN Architecture is proud to have had the privilege of collaborating with Hervey Bay Boat Club over several years, beginning with the development of their comprehensive Master Plan in 2020. This latest stage in the roll-out of that Master Plan builds upon earlier phases, which included upgrades to the foyer and gaming areas.
The recently completed renovation enhances Hervey Bay Boat Club by providing a new café, a new sports bar area equipped with TAB facilities, a new cocktail lounge, the relocation of the central bar, and a revitalised deck area. These modern facilities support the Boat Club’s mission to provide a vibrant venue and club for its community and members.
An innovative, culturally sensitive design was thoughtfully implemented to create a welcoming space for the community while optimising the club’s business operations.
The design sought to showcases the Boat Club’s captivating marina views ensuring that all guests can enjoy the beauty of their surroundings from dawn to dusk. Floor-to-ceiling windows encircle the entire building, to not only maximise the visual impact but also bring an abundance of natural light into the space, enhancing the overall ambiance. Large, retractable glass walls blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing guests to enjoy the marina surrounds.
The interior design highlights the natural beauty of the surrounding environment, creating a serene and uplifting atmosphere. Natural materials and earthy tones not only ground the building in its coastal setting but also pay tribute to the broader Australian landscape.
The design concept is inspired by the varying hues of the surrounding natural landscape, with the interior palette reflecting the warm tones of the cliffs at Rainbow beach to the vibrant shades of the Fraser Coast. This thoughtful integration of colour into the decor, furnishings, and lighting creates a dynamic ambiance that shifts throughout the day, echoing the surrounding environment. The approach not only elevates the aesthetic appeal but also fosters a deep sense of well-being and connection to Hervey Bay’s natural beauty.
Elevating the Club Experience: A Stunning Bar Transformation
The strategic relocation of the main bar has transformed it into a central feature of the club, enabling service to multiple areas, including the cocktail lounge, dining spaces, and outdoor deck. The bar’s stunning natural stone surface and hand-crafted Italian mosaic tiles, which echo the shifting hues of the Australian sky and landscape, create an inviting focal point that draws patrons in.
