Bringing players and supporters together through a world class grandstand and training facility.
Completed in April 2023, the new Des Morris Stand at East Leagues Club replaces an isolated and aging stand with an integrated world-class facility. The team from BSPN partnered closely with the client to realise their vision and designed the grandstand to be an icon for the Brisbane Tigers Club, making it feel like home for players and club supporters alike.
Being a popular local rugby team with a great number of supporters, the design intent was focused on increasing the interaction and engagement between players and the public. This was achieved by bringing the seating areas as close as possible to the pitch and removing the physical barriers around the field. Spectators now feel that they are a part of the game rather than just observers watching from a distance.
Design elements are simple to ensure maximum operational efficiency and functionality.
Level 1 of the grandstand houses the main lobby with vertical and horizontal connection to the other spaces within the precinct. Opening out directly from the lobby is the concourse that leads to seating areas and food and beverage facilities for the public. All training facilities and changing rooms for the players of both teams are also on this level and have direct access to the pitch.
