This refurbishment reimagines a cherished local icon as a welcoming, family-friendly destination that celebrates the enduring spirit of the traditional pub. Enhancing the Sports Bar, Bistro and key communal spaces, the project delivers a contemporary refresh while reinforcing the venue’s role as a hub for locals, sports fans and the live music community.
Inspired by the character of the heritage-listed circa 1890s red-brick hotel, the design embraces a familiar ‘trad pub’ aesthetic, drawing on Victorian influences through textured glass, patterned tiles, VJ-lined joinery and carefully crafted detailing. Warm tones of deep red, green, walnut and brass create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere that feels both timeless and authentically local.
Central to the design narrative was the creation of a venue that proudly serves its community, a place for families to gather, punters to connect and live music to thrive. A considered approach to refurbishment saw existing building elements retained and adapted wherever possible, reducing waste while preserving the character that has made the venue a longstanding part of the local fabric. The result is a refreshed hospitality destination that honours its history while supporting its next chapter.
