Maggie May Supper Club

Where 70s nostalgia meets a refined bar and dining experience.

Maggie May Supper Club offers Newstead visitors a unique and sophisticated bar and dining experience. The project involved the refurbishment of an existing bar and dining space that previously had a rigid and industrial feel. BSPN undertook extensive research, identifying the target market and what was lacking in the area, and then created a concept that would set the venue apart in a competitive landscape. Working within the existing layout, the space has been transformed into one that embraces a distinctive 70s vibe.

The venue is largely centred around the bar, which is finished in mustard upholstered vinyl, alongside dining seating that includes a mix of booth seating and open plan arrangements. There is a private dining zone at one end, which has been given a softer feel through the use of heavy olive green velvet curtains. Orange and cream carpet, along with dark wood panelling, round out the palette of colours and finishes.

The new lighting plays a large role in the success of the space, adding mood and atmosphere. Several traditional 70s pendant ‘flowerpot’ lights were selected to highlight the bar and private dining areas. The entire façade of the venue facing Gasworks opens completely, allowing the warmth of the interior space to spill out and welcome people in from the harsher concrete surroundings.
